• Framing the Windows of your Dreams

When choosing the frame material of your windows, considering their performance benefits and their benefits for climate design and curb appeal are important factors.

    Vinyl Windows

Vinyl windows are primarily made from PVC which stands for polyvinyl chloride. Vinyl windows are the most economically efficient choice in framing. They are competitively priced and require low maintenance. They have moderate to high R-values, a large selection of styles and shapes and easily customized to meet your needs.

    Aluminum Windows

Aluminum is great for customized window designs. But it's important to know that aluminum frames cause condensation and conductive heat loss, meaning they have low R-values. There are ways to greatly improve the thermal resistence of aluminum frames by inserting plastic strips or thermal breaks between the outside and inside of the sash and frame.

    Fiberglass Windows

Of all the window frame materials, fiberglass has the highest R-values of all frames and are exceptionally strong. If you're looking for the best insulating frames, fiberglass is an excellent choice. Some fiberglass frames are filled with fiberglass insulation and some are hollow. They will not swell, shrink, rot, warp or corrode. Fiberglass frames can hold large expanses of glass and come in a variety of styles and color options to get the perfect look and feel to compliment your home.

    Wood-clad Windows

As opposed to older, solid wood window frames that tend to rot, warp and require a high degree of maintenance , wood-clad frames are made up of wood on the inside covered in a cladding made of fiberglass, vinyl or aluminum on the outside. This improved covering gives the homeowner that traditional look of a wood window while adding the protection needed to better withstand the outside elements commonly seen in a solid wood window. Nothing beats the look and feel of a wood window. Although wood-clad windows still require a higher degree of maintenance with periodic painting, it's especially important to consider if you're replacing your windows in a traditionally styled or historical home.
